Thread Hijack!

Okay, all you guys that have a second planet. I am about to get my second one and I want to be sure I am ready and I make a good pick the right one.

I am a terran and I have a desert, an aquatic and an frozen world next to me.

I am looking at the aquatic one for my second planet. I figure that with extra detritium I can buy any other resource I will need off the market.

Do you need to build a build yard or does your drop ship become the build yard?

Do you need to research any power generation before you land?

Does an Embassy protect your planet from being invaded?

New planet has nothing. No AEC or building yard. You have to build everything from scratch.

You probably want hydro plant unlocked power wise for a water planet, but as a Terran Wind usually isn't that bad.

Yes an embassy does stop the colony from being invaded.

A building yard is not present when you colonise a planet, but you may build one if you wish. The dropship just disappears.

Research the power source in which the planet specialises in, however I did a quest where I had to research hydro electricity anyway - so when it came to colonising an aquatic planet - I didnt need to research it.

An embassy does protect the planet from invasions, until it is destroyed by bombers.

Okay, so as a Terran all I can do is plop down a wind farm until I can put 300 research into hydro power?

correct. Perhaps the wind energy source should make you consider differently on where to colonise? or not if you dont mind researching or having less efficiency.

Yes but it will be harder to get the energy. You might don't want to build energy-consuming buildings or station many ships until you get hydro. Also, the wind is the third best energy, solar is second and hydro is first.

See, now I am waffling. This is why I come to the forums. On the one hand with wind as my power source (stupid Terrans) a desert might be the better bet. However, the call of detritum as a currency is tempting.

Crystal is valuable, especially to young titans, you can still make profit with a desert planet.

My partner that plays on the .de server just pointed out that planets have different ratings on power. Looks like the two in my solar system have horrible percentages of power output. So I guess I will have to hop to another solar system to get the big numbers.

Any of you traders on the market? Do the numbers fluctuate? I am just learning how to make heads and tails with the lack of buttons to tell you "Sending out," "bringing in." It looks like the value goes Metal>Crystal>Detritium.

Roughly 4m = 3 c = 3trit

But people tend not to offer more than they are searching for, regardless of the commodity, this kind of skews the values of the resources. Just keep an eye on the markets and see if any paterns emmerge with pricing.
